USDA loans
Financing for eligible households buying in qualifying rural areas.

How it works
USDA’s guaranteed loan program lets approved lenders finance eligible primary homes in qualifying areas. An eligible purchase might have no required down payment. The lender still reviews repayment ability and the property. Location and household income both matter.
From first check to loan choice
- 1
Check the address
Confirm the property is in a USDA-eligible area.
- 2
Check household income
Review income for household members under the program’s limits, plus borrower repayment ability.
- 3
Compare the payment
Include the guarantee fees, taxes, insurance, and any cash needed for closing.
What affects your decision
No required down payment
Zero down does not necessarily mean zero cash at closing. Appraisal, closing costs, and prepaid items still matter.
Primary residence
The home must be your primary residence and meet program property rules.
Program fees
An upfront guarantee fee and an annual fee affect the cost. Ask how each appears in your estimate.
